Butcher Jones OHV Trail [CLOSED] is a 16.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Fort McDowell, Arizona that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. Beautiful area next to Saguaro Lake. If you're looking to explore a desert oasis this is the perfect place to do it!The trailhead is located right next to a large beach and picnic area. There was a decent amount of traffic on this trail, more than we've seen on any others, but we've never had an issue finding a spot to post up and enjoy the lake.Went yesterday May 6, 2020. However, getting to the “peaceful” part requires some effort. Those hills on the off shoots are much steeper and rutted to climb. The road there was closed.

The trail is primarily used for ohv/off road driving and is accessible year-round.
Nice views of the lake too! With minimal elevation gain and beautiful views, it can't be beat! I like to combine it with a kayak trip (Butcher Jones is my favorite launch spot for the lake) - I've been hiking this trail since high school :) Last time I did this trail, I saw a pair of bald eagles.

Mostly easy (but we had a ZJ w/6" lift & 35s), with a few alternate hard lines here and there.

A razor would navigate this more easily.very cool and fun trails for all levels of expertise.

cousin of mine went in their stock Tahoe and while it completed the trail, it blew out one tire and probably took some underbody damage.

We took some off-road trails to the water which was closed off as well.
